What is Automation Testing?

Automation Testing is a process where software or an Automation Tool is used to execute test scripts in a controlled and desired manner to compare the expected result with the actual result. In general terms Automation Testing involves automating a manual process which is already in place in the testing process.

Automation Testing is needed when you have to do repetitive testing to see that the functionalities behave in the same fashion it used to be when you first tested. Typically if we look at small applications we might not test the modules already tested and so manual testing will do . If we look at large applications or products where there are many releases and different modules and as the modules get integrated the testing effort increases and the time is less. To overcome this automation testing is needed to save time, resources and cost etc.
