Recording Modes in QTP 9.2

QTP 9.2 allows its user to record and play back test scripts in three recording modes.

The Three Recording Modes of QTP 9.2 are


1. Context Sensitive Recording
2. Analog Recording
3. Low Level Recording

By default when every you start recording a script it records in Context Sensitive Recording Mode. This is also called as Normal recording Mode. All the Scripts will be Context Sensitive Scripts. Most of the time Recording is done using Context Sensitive Recording.

Percentage of Recording Modes Used in QTP 9.2


1. Context Sensitive Recording Mode is used over 95%
2. Analog Recording is less than 4%
3. Low Level recording is around 1%


Analog Recording Mode captures the keyboard and mouse coordinates while recording which means in this recording mode QTP 9.2 recognizes Click, Drag and Drop actions.

Low Level recording is rarely used and there is no point in discussing it here.

1. For Recording - Press F3
2. For Stopping a Recording Session – Press F4
3. For Playing a Recorded Script – Press F5
